Registration
Before registration, students should first seek admission to the PhD program by contacting the coordinator (Dr. Júlia Barón, [email protected]). Admissions to the program can be submitted throughout the academic year.
Once admitted, students with foreign degrees should contact the administration office ([email protected]) in order to get them validated. Validation may take a few months so it is advisable to start this process a few months before the registration period.
There are two registration periods. The first registration period takes place between mid-September and late October. The second registration period normally starts in mid-February and ends in March. It is preferable for students to register during the first registration period. If you have further questions about registration, contact the administration office ([email protected]).

Admission
A requirement in order to be accepted into any doctoral program in Spain is to have an "official" M.A. degree (or one from a different country which would give you access to a PhD program). If you do not have an M.A. degree, visit the M.A. program website:
http://laalcm.weebly.com/.
Students who are admitted to our program hold an MA degree preferably in the area of Applied Linguistics, but also in the Social Sciences and they all have good academic records. They should have had some previous experience in conducting a small piece of empirical research (i.e., MA thesis). Since this PhD program does not include any formal instruction, students are expected to also have the necessary skills and background to work quite autonomously in their field of study.
Application for admission
In order to apply to the program you need to send the following documents (in electronic format) to the coordinator:
- CV
- Letter of intent
- BA degree and academic records
- MA degree and academic records
- MA thesis
- Name and e-mail address of MA thesis supervisor
- A certificate of proficiency in English (IELTS; TOEFL, etc.)
In the letter of intent (which is expected to be between 2-3 pages long) you should indicate how your qualifications, experience and research interests make you a suitable candidate. You should also be specific about your topic of interest and any preliminary research questions you may presently have. Include a justification for the research topic you propose and the background you have in that area (i.e., relevant references you are familiar with).
