The GRAL group has acquired commercial equipment and software that are made available for PhD students to collect and analyze data for their theses:
Data collection: a sound proof booth, eye tracking equipment, E-Prime, two serial response boxes (with voice key), a number of professional audio recorders, microphones and headphones, wireless lapel and ceiling microphones, and a digital video-camera.
Tests and data analysis: Eye-tracker, Peabody Picture Vocabulary test, a limited number of NVivo and ATLAS licenses, etc.
Over the years, the members of the GRAL group have participated in the development of a number of instruments, which are also at the disposal of PhD Students. Here are some examples (to visualize some of these instrument see personal websites of the teaching staff).
A reading test for EFL children (Tragant & Muñoz); A language learning strategies questionnaire (Tragant, Thompson & Victori, 2013); The Language and Language Learning Awareness (LLLA) Interview (Muñoz, 2014), Automated Reading Span Test in Spanish/Catalan (Gilabert & Levkina, 2010), D_Tools (Meara &Miralpeix 2007), Y_Lex (Meara and Miralpeix, 2006), V_Size (Meara and Miralpeix, 2007).
The GRAL has also developed the BELC Corpus, a SLA bank of narratives, interviews and role-plays by Catalan children and young adults learning English.
The ICE (Institute of Educational Science) offers methodological assessment service to doctoral students.
